Mio padre nel 1923 era ragazzino e apprendeva le tecniche lavorando con lo zio Raffaele. All’età di 26 anni nel 1934, mio padre, Francesco Pentasuglia avendo ormai visto suo zio costruire il carro più volte, ha fatto il suo primo carro presentando il bozzetto e vincendo il concorso per la realizzazione dell’opera. Il tema di quell’anno era “L’Annunciazione”. Quello è stato il primo lavoro di una lunga serie.
Si sono create quindi due botteghe: una del mio prozio Raffaele e l’altra di mio padre Francesco e fino al 1940 si sono alternati nella costruzione del carro.
Nel giugno del 1940 con l’arrivo della guerra la costruzione del carro affidata a mio padre è rimasta incompiuta. Nel 1945, lo stesso carro è stato terminato e portato in processione.
